Your Personal Legend

It’s natural to go through periods — sometimes short snippets, other times long lapses — when life seems to get a little out of hand.  Have you ever felt this way?  External circumstances throw you for a loop, work piles up, you get swept up in a whirlwind of activities, or your commitments become too much to juggle.  Etc., etc.

Sometimes, it can be one’s own initiatives for change and growth that, once put into play, suddenly become overwhelming.  Pursuing dreams is exciting, but it can also be exhausting.  Great opportunities often also present risk, and while the former compels you onward, the latter tries to pull you back.  So this can play out as an inner struggle.  Even when you’re completely sure of where you want to go, making good on opportunities takes hard work.  I, for one, after a long bout of relaxed living, have recently felt that old sensation of confidently pursuing goals but feeling more than a bit drained as a result.

So, brought to you from my daily planner pad, these words from Paulo Coelho are appropriate food for thought:

Es lógico sentir miedo ante lo desconocido.
Lo que no debemos hacer es paralizarnos.
Es necesario continuar con coraje el camino a nuestra Leyenda Personal.

Personal legend, huh?  How do you them apples?  Whatever overwhelming task(s) you might be facing, thinking about them as steps in your “personal legend” sure makes it all sound a lot sexier.  The main figure i any legend, or epic tale if you will, comes face-to-face giants and wizards and unicorns and the like, right?  It’s just part of the plot as you head toward the moral of the story.  Our job is to keep finding a way onward.

So that’s my wish for you today.  May you move forward with your personal goals and dreams with courage, and maybe even a little grace, remembering all the clutter and trials are the stuff legends are made of.
